Purpose of the Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct exists because we want to ensure that pdxFLIT events stay safe, inclusive, productive, and beneficial to the community. We hope that this document can serve as a reflection of our vision for this group. Furthermore, we feel that it is important to create a written set of guidelines that depict what sorts of behaviors we expect from group affiliates.

Scope of the Code of Conduct

Expectations listed in the Code of Conduct apply to behaviors that are exhibited inside and outside of group events. Individuals who violate the Code of Conduct in interactions that occur online or in situations that involve other community members outside of events may be removed or asked to leave pdxFLIT forums and events.

Behavioral Expectations

We hope that pdxFLIT affiliates will come to events and group activities with an open mind, a thirst for knowledge, and a positive attitude. At a minimum, we ask that event attendees conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous manner. This translates into respecting the identities and experiences of others and being polite to other attendees. This also includes respecting the bodily autonomy of others and being receptive if somebody asks you to stop behaving in a manner that makes others feel unsafe. Put simply, we just want everyone to be friendly and get along.

Unacceptable Behaviors

Racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, etc. are strictly prohibited at pdxFLIT and in online communications involving pdxFLIT members. Jokes and attempts at humor that cross into this threshold are not permissible and we ask that attendees exercise appropriate discretion in moments of jest. Regardless of intention, being aggressive, mean, degrading, or towards others is also off limits.

We want pdxFLIT to remain safe and inclusive for individuals of all gender identities. Failing to refer to other people by their desired pronouns is transphobic and will not be tolerated in pdxFLIT communications. If you see somebody acting in an unacceptable, offensive, or hostile manner, please report it using the criteria that is outlined at the top of this Code of Conduct.

Prohibited Items

Weapons, drugs, and items that possess hypersexualized, violent, and/or hateful imagery or messaging are prohibited at pdxFLIT events.
